چکیده
Background and Aim. Fibrosis of the lungs is an interstitial lung disease whose diagnosis treatment are not well-established. Stachys pilifera Benth. (Lamiaceae) has been proven to have antioxidant anti-inflammatory properties. This study was performed determine effect S. extract on bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis in rats. Methods. In this experimental study, 35 male Wistar rats (120–180 g) were divided into five groups (n = 7) as follows: intratracheal instillation bleomycin (BLM, 7.5 IU/kg) administered group II. The third fourth received BLM plus hydroalcoholic (SPHE) (300 mg/kg/day, gavage). Vitamin E (500 gavage) given V addition BLM. After 14 days, animals euthanized assess biochemical parameters histopathology. Malondialdehyde (MDA), nitric oxide (NO), total thiol (TSH), glutathione (GSH) levels measured. addition, hydroxyproline (HYP) along with histological changes tissue also assessed. Results. MDA, NO, HYP elevations induced by toxicity significantly inhibited SPHE 600 mg/kg), Vit E. increased GSH TSH comparison group.HPLC analyses showed presence thymol (55.47 ng/mL) carvacrol (109.91 potential bioactive phenolic compounds. Conclusion. results suggest that alleviates development BLM-induced inhibiting proliferation fibroblasts mediated pathways. Other mechanisms underlying Effect need be clarified through further research.

Background: Bleomycin-induced lung fibrosis has been accepted as an animal model for fibrosis in rats. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of saffron aqueous extract on this disorder paving the way for more investigation in treating idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in human. Methods: Male Wistar rats (250–300 gr) were instilled a single dose of bleomycin (5 mg/kg) via in...
متن کاملThe Effect of Methanol Extract of Fennel on Bleomycin-Induced Pulmonary Fibrosis in Rats
Background & Aims: Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic diffuse interstitial lung disease, which has symptoms such as coughing and shortness of breath. The average survival duration in these patients is estimated as 3 years after the onset of symptoms. Today, the therapeutic approach used in IPF cases is the usage of chemical or herbal antioxidants in order to elim...

Background: The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of saffron and methylprednisolone on bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis in rats. Methods: This study was conducted in Bushehr, southern Iran in 2017.The animals were divided into four groups of five rats each. Three groups were injected with a single intratracheal dose of bleomycin (5 mg/kg). The fourth group was administered w...
متن کاملEmodin ameliorates bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis in rats by suppressing epithelial-mesenchymal transition and fibroblast activation
Aberrant activation of TGF-β1 is frequently encountered and promotes epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and fibroblast activation in pulmonary fibrosis. The present study investigated whether emodin mediates its effect via suppressing TGF-β1-induced EMT and fibroblast activation in bleomycin (BLM)-induced pulmonary fibrosis in rats. Here, we found that emodin induced apoptosis and inhibite...
